I would join...

So I was just reading one of my favorite blogs, All Hail The Black Market (it's mostly about cycling, making wizard staff's, and ruining it for everyone else), when I came across the following story.  I checked out the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and I must say, anyone that try's to ruin Kansas's need to teach Intelligent Design, I applaud.  Plus being Italian and loving all things pasta, how can I not like this.  I wonder if they sell t shirts...

Addiction

So been awhile since the last post, eventually I'll get into a routine... Any ways, been riding the Karate Monkey a lot (a lot meaning as life allows), and have upgraded brakes from Avid BB7's (mechanical disk) to Avid Elixir 3's (hydraulic). Not quite what I wad hoping for, but definitely an upgrade and probably just need to get them dialed in. My first single speed race is Saturday. 1 lap, 15 miles. That's about theaverage distance of my rides. The only real "roadblock" will be speed. I'm hoping for top 10, assuming there is even 10 I'm the SS class. Regardless of finish, I get a pint glass full of beer, schwag bag, and hopefully a screaming girlfriend at the end. On a slightly other note, I'm loving single speeding. It's so flowy and simply. Kinda like wrestling, the only thing holding me back is myself. Well that is all for now. Hopefully I'll turn this into a witty and wizard staff filled good time in the near future.

2nd ride today

Going for my second ss ride today with my buddy Jeff who will probably make infinite fun of me for riding 1 gear (and probably rigid).  We go back and forth on climbing normally.  He rides a traditional midweight Al hardtail, I used to ride a 33lb 5" full suspension Mongoose.  I always win on the downhills (I also crash much more spectacularly than him).  I bet I can still beat him on the downs with the Karate Monkey.

1st post

Doing this quickly before I head out.  Not sure why I am doing this, pretty much just want a reason to have a website called Whiz Wit and have the url contain "team cheesesteak".  I have decided this will be my racing moniker.  Which brings me to the point of this blog in the first place, pretty much just to ramble on and indulge my unhealthy obsession with mountain biking.  I just bought a new bike and signed up for my 2nd race ever.  The new bike is a rigid singlespeed (SS, but not THE SS) and after just one short ride, it's a blast.  I have some work ahead of me before the "Ancient Peaks MTB Race" on July 23rd, climbing has never been my forte and now I don't have gears.  Never did like to do things the easy way...
